How We Returned Back After Very High DDOS Attack

If you've been reading HYWD for some time there is no way to have missed the saga with our site. We have been under extremely severe DDOS attacks for around a month. During this time me and our programmer were searching for reliable hostings and tried several services.

Our old service and the next two suspended HYWD just hours after the attacks started. They refused to take any measures.



The we decided to host at ResellerClub who claim to have DDOS protection. For few days all was fine and then the attacks started again. Their support appeared to be quite illiterate. They thought the server overload is because of our mass-mailing and not because of DDOS. They suspended the site for SPAM (?!).

Then we decided to try Zidusnet budget DDOS service. Their support was a lot more cooperative and they put our site under SSL until the attacks stop. But the attacks did not stop and they didn't really filter them. We had very little use of keeping the site on SSL port as no one knew to search it there.

Finally our programmer found SecureServerTech (this is his affiliate link) and we are currently hosting there. The price is $50 per month + $50 setup, which may be high compared to what we tried before, but is very low for a real DDOS hosting.

Unlike the other services, SecureServerTech not only filtered the attacks by tracking where they come from, but contacted the ISPs of the affected servers. This is how a DDOS protected hosting support is supposed to act.

It's quite possible that we'll be able to track the hacker soon and punish them.

Great to have you back Tony, Your new hosting service could be a "godsend" for people trying to do a legitimate business. You should post your testimonial in as many forums as you can Best wishes Paul
