Tom Takese - the Perpetual Thief? by Tony CliftonThese of you who follow our Watched Programs section know that i was quite excited about takese.com - a program run by Tom Takese, a person presenting himself as a perpetual traveller. Unfortunately there are few reports that Takese stopped paying when his program closed for new investors and most probably it turned to be scam. Tom also stopped participating in the forums althought he was very active when the program was accepting deposits. Now after the emotions are gone we can face the truth and realize that Tom Takese is most probably a very experienced perpetual scammer. Let us see what made his approach so successful: realistic returns - we have discussed this many times and yet it continues to work. I am myself very often missleaded on the programs who offer realistic returns. Takese was offering up to 12% weekly return which is considered doable in the HYIP world. Honestly, we are receiving proof after proof that such returns are not possible. So maybe it is really time to understand that everything over 20% monthly can't be real? great communication - here is what most the scammers lack. They very often have poor english, pompous language and refuse to talk about their trading strategies. Tom is different. His english is perfect, his communications skills are excellent, he is very friendly and willing to respond about everything. When we were discussing his program in HYIPD he proved to know enough about forex trading to sound like professional high but reasonable minimum - the low minimum is sure scam signal. But $100 is widely considered as reasonable in the HYIP arena. At the same time it is low enough for many of us to put "play money" - noone gives 1k or so to a program with simple website and no other contacts than email. Tom knew what minimum to choose in order to attract serious investors. his "perpetual traveller" story - this not only attracted interest (many HYIP investors are inspired by the idea of being a PT) but also provided a nice explanation why you can't go to an office and meet Tom or use his postal address for something. This also gives him the freedom to disappear when he wants... The strategy of Tom Takese is very strong and he can do this again and again many times. Such kind of thief can live off such "programs" without bothering too much of being caught. His program didn't draw too much attention and he will be forgotten soon. We even saw so few non-payment report that we aren't 100% sure if he really stopped paying! But most probably he will be back soon with another program and it will be very hard to recognize him.
