In Focus: Private Opps
by Tony Clifton
This is one of the most interesting programs which slowly but steady gain popularity.
Private Opps offers you to invest in several subfunds, all different by type and ROI.
The
FOREX subfund's unit costs only $5 and offers 0.40% - 0.50% compounded ROI per business day for 45 days. The returns look reasonable for currency trading excluding the fact that they
every day pay profit (unlikely for real trading)
FXED ODDS.I and
FIXED ODDS.II "contracts" return from 0.55% to 1.10% daily for 45 - 75 days. I am not sure why the program admins think fixed odds betting should be always more profitable than straight betting. It
could be, but it is also very risky. These deals look fishy for me, but it is still possible to be real
OFFSHORE.I pays 1.00% - 1.5% for 110 days. "This club has access to various lucrative offshore opportunities, from poker rooms in Panama to land development and real-estate transactions in Latin America and Eastern Europe". Decide for yourself how realistic this is.
DOMAINS.I. For $50.00 per units it offers 1.40% fixed for 120 days. It pretends to invest in Internet Domain Names. From my long year experience as a webmaster i can only tell that some sites can be very profitable, thought the most of them are at loss. If someone could pay 1.4% daily from webmastering and selling domains/websites is highly questionable.
MIXED.I. This mixes the other funds. 1.05% to 1.35% daily for 60 days. If it is real depends on if the other subfunds are real.
OFFSHORE.II subfund is similar to OFFSHORE.I but pays 1.4% fixed for 60 days.
All the funds look a bit unlikely for a real business, because of all these fixed rates and daily payments. Thought we should justify that their low returns aren't impossible, because of the limited time of the deposits.
See their answer of the very reasonable question " Can you show any proof of real trades / trading records / bank statements?"
here.
Some more facts:
- The whois info shows the registrant at San Hose. However on MMG the admin defended their use of a fake telephone number.
- A personal meeting with the program owners had been rejected.
- They refused accepting large bank wire. The server is hosted in US.
- They have been payign so far without a trouble.
- They survived 7 DDOS attacks.
Conclusion: Long term ponzi or other fraudient program
Private Opps could be real, but the owners haven't made anything for us to believe that. The returns could be eventually produced with legal activities, but the way they are spread is m
uch ponzi-like.

I don't think this program is a real deal, but we can still give them a chance to prove the opposite. The risk to be at loss is pretty small, so you can give them a reasonable spend in the beginning of 2006 unless some unexpected changes occure.

Can't agree any more. I have been in this one since it was set up. Now I've got my principal back and leave 100 there for the domains I plan. Hopefully can got the profit in 59 days. As a rookie in HYIP, not sure whether it will be able to survive 2006 Feb, just keep my figer crossed. :) And again, thanks for Clifton's excellent article.

Toni, For the Forex: what do you mean with every day profits? They pay every business day only. For the Domain: what do you mean with most sites are on loss? I work with content sites and none is a loss, plus if you concentrate on Domains you could resell you can make a real good profit over the year. Domain business is the most lukrativ as you do not have big monthly costs. So with a lot of money you could register 10,000s of Domains and really generate big profit. Example: Register a Domain, host it cheap and put up some content. If you only generate let's say an average of $ 50 monthly with one site but pay $ 5 you have a profit per Domain of $ 45. Now you go and multiply this with only 1,000 sites ........ Plus the Domain selling which is no extra cost at all. Regards Dougi

Hi Dougi, Thanks for your questions. On Forex: I mean they are in same ranges of profit every single business day. In real trading this never happens. Some days you loose, other days you make more. However they result is possible if they just spread the better days profits over the loosy days. Re: domains Yes, if you work on content sites you must make some profits. But here you don't count your work as investment. $50 nonthly is nothing, but even for that profit you need some effort. When you work yourself you don't count that, but an investment company like private-opps would hire people to do it. Some projects will be successfull, others won't. Some projects will require a lot of investments for development, design etc and will return nothing. Others will be very profitable even without an investment. My point is about their fixed 1.4% per day. You can make profits with domain names and websites, but fixed daily payout does not make too much sense in such volatile business like web publishing However as i said in the review, we would gladly accept p-opps as a real program if they care to show some real proof about their activities Imho it is safe enough to play it now, just get out your seed money and play with profits

Hi Tony, I know we have to be very careful in this kind of biz and we shouldn'dt believe blind what THEY tell us. No question about that. But provided that the statements on the PO Site are true, the single Contracts are not leaded by PO but each by a different company, hence PO doesn't has to hire people. So Domain I is a company who works only with domains and websites. No need for expensive design or development. Sometimes you just buy domains, let's say out of an actual theme. You sell them with more or less good profit. And I'm sure you know, some can be very profitable. Even local actualities count here. And as more money you have to invest in this kind of biz as more you take out profit of course. Same goes for simple content sites and google profit and so on. It's like with every biz. Small input and you need a lucky hit to make great profits. But with a large sum your profit is guaranteed as you multiply small profit. My example with $ 50 a month was just to show, it is 1000% profit a month by investing $ 5 for hosting. If you have more and more sites generating only this little amount each it can reach real big profit. Paying 310% out leaves still 690% for the company to pay employees and required tools and all the stuff. Sometimes we need to think outside the box ;) Still it is always recommended to take the principal out as long as a company didn't proof long enough that they are trustful, even if it is a feeder company. Merry Christmas to you Dougi

Merry Christmass to you! Thanks for your good input. I want to point your attention only to these 2 aspects: - regardless if they run the sites themselves or use company, that company will need resources to run the sites. Even the content sites which use simply wordpress or something need the content, don't they? ;) So you have to either write it yourself or hire someone. So it isn't just $5. Separately, althought $50 monthly is a dime income, you still can't make it by simply placing the site online. You need to get traffic on them. - if they really make 1000% per month, would they care to run a HYIP? :-) Finally i would like to say clearly that I am more than happy to see a proof and accept PO as legit program. However they haven't shown anything, except shady explanations. Separately a recent thread in GoldenTalk shows them onsame server like many scams (this is not a proof they are scam, but a red flag): http://goldentalk.com/t12651.html Thanks again for your feedback. I am always opened for more discussion
